Buddies Abroad Day

Over the past few weeks I have been thrilled to see that my little blog has had visitors or views from the UK, Canada, South Africa, Mexico, Greece, Germany, Brazil, France, Australia, New Zealand, Russia, Italy and South Korea!
Whoever you are – I want to thank you – thank you so much for visiting Allison’s Well and sharing the water – I truly hope you’ll stay and share some more.
Ever since I was small, I have always wanted an international friend; at that time, a pen-pal.  I didn’t know about, or use, the Internet.  Yeah, I’m that old.  🙂
Since joining the online community, I have been so blessed to have met people from around the world – it has been an amazing, fulfilling, and irreplaceable experience to talk with people from all places and walks-of-life.
(Taking this moment just to say “thank you” and “love you” to a particular foursome of lovely ladies who live respectively in Australia, England and Canada –  Jane, Olivia, Tracey and Blessing Counter . . . ‘hugs gently’  You girls are the best!).
And for me personally, to connect with Christian homeschoolers from around the world has filled me with such hope and energy.  The Internet can indeed be used for good – and I praise God for the way His children from all over the world can reach out to one another.
Beyond that – it is always fascinated and delighted me to understand people and the unique similarities and differences of our languages, cultures and traditions that create the amazing tapestry of the world around us.
I was reflecting on all of this around the same time that I was creating a giveaway for my book ‘The Reluctant Godfather’.  I was very disappointed that, due to the price of shipping, I couldn’t include my overseas friends in all the fun.

So this one is for you.  I am proud and thrilled to announce ‘Buddies Abroad Day’ – a day to celebrate all my buddies who live abroad.

A special giveaway JUST for those who live outside of the USA – a chance to enter an exclusive giveaway for a free copy of ‘The Keys To the Chains‘ – a sci-fi action adventure short story.

I would love to have you join my little party and claim your free book.

All you have to do is follow my blog and leave a comment below letting us know where you live (i.e. country) and I will email you a pdf copy of ‘The Key to the Chains‘.  I look forward to getting the opportunity to meet you, or get to know you better!

Thank you so much for fulfilling a life-long wish.  Thank you for your interest.  Thank you for your friendship.

  1. Aw, I love this idea. So many giveaways don’t include the international people because of shipping which I get is expensive.. this is so sweet of you to do though. ❤️

    1. Aww – thank you, Maddy! Yes, I didn’t like the idea that so many people might feel excluded or isolated and I was excited to come up with this idea, as small as it is.

While at the post office with my giveaway packages, I was checking rates for overseas shipping and I truly hope some day to be in a position to do that – until then, I wanted to share something special and exclusive with everyone that wasn’t able to participate in my first giveaway, to let them know that I was thinking about them the whole time!

  2. Awww, I saw my name!! Thank you for your friendship!!! I so agree with you though…the internet can be such a blessing and I can’t believe how in so many unique ways I’ve met people. Seriously, friends are the best!! 😀 And since you know where I am, I shall wait anxiously for the PDF 😉

    1. Thank YOU, Olivia!! I am truly grateful for our friendship! Yes! Since joining the on-line community I’ve been so blessed by the people I’ve been able to connect with! <3

You have a present coming to your inbox as we speak, Olivia! 🙂

    2. And trivia for England. Most of my favorite authors are from England. My father toured Europe in the 1970s and he visited England. I have always been interested by his stories and we’ve talked about how interesting it would be to go back and see how much it has changed since then.

  3. Awww…this is SO sweet of you, Allison!! I love you too!! <3 *hugs* And this post…YES! The Internet is an amazing place to be able to connect with people who share your interests…I used to have a pen pal too without knowing about the internet…so don’t worry, you’re not THAT old 😉

    1. Awwww, thank you Blessing!! ‘returns hug gratefully’ Every since we met, you have been living up to your name and being a blessing to me! <3.
I was delighted to do this!

Yes it is! Haha... thanks! That does make me feel better!

  4. Aww, thanks so much for doing this Allison! It’s such a shame when there’s a giveaway you’d REALLY like to enter but it’s closed to you because you don’t have the fortune to be American! XD And I’ve been wanting to read ‘The Key to the Chains’ for ages too! *dances round the room* ;D
I’m in South Africa, but I think you knew that already (i.e. rooibos tea! ;D)

    1. BETHANY!!! ‘tackle hugs’ Yes – that really bugged me! Why should my friends outside the USA be excluded from all the fun? Aww – really? Thank you, Bethany! <3 I'm so happy to share my short story with you!

I have always been curious about South Africa, I have seen several IMAX and nature films set in South Africa and I have been fascinated by what I've seen - plus my Mom had friends from South Africa, plus my absolute love for rooibos tea - which by the way everyone, is one of the best teas in the world!!

  5. How sweet of you, Allison! International shipping rates can be monstrous. I’ve always thought it kind of silly that it costs so much to even send something over an “imaginary line” drawn between Canada and the U.S.! The post doesn’t even have to cross a body of water to get from one to the other. But because the majority of my blog followers are American, I had a giveaway last year open to North America in general.

Anyway, thanks for thinking of us! <3 (And you should visit Canada one day! *wink wink*)

    1. Aww, thanks Tracey! Yes – the costs are sadly out the window and it seems overly exorbitant! Aww, that was nice of you!

I would love to visit Canada! Trivia time!

Prince Edward Island has been a dream vacation in our hearts (especially my Mom’s) for years.

  6. Awh. *flails* This made my day to hear, Alli. <33 Thank you so much for making this effort. 🙂

I am (as you know quite well but I'll say so anyway XD) in Australia. *bows and hands over pizza*
And I already follow your blog soo yeah. *shrug*

    1. Yay! I’m so glad, Jane!

Okay, that is weird – I had pizza last night for dinner after you made this comment! ‘scratches head’ – Thank you so much for following my blog, Jane! I am thrilled to share Keys to the Chain with you.

Random trivia time. Australia has been my older sisters dream destination for FOREVER…and one of our favorite TV shows was produced in Australia, (Skippy the Bush Kangaroo – don’t judge! 😀 ) and a children’s VHS tape that my twin and I watched to DEATH (Napoleon) was also made in Australia. Our family recently visited an Australian bakery (run by an Australian gentleman) and sampled an array of desserts. I’m afraid the only one I liked was the anzac cookies – or rather biscuits – and those were delicious! That and the blackberry Chewits that I picked up at the front counter.
